Focal Elex ($700) and Clear ($990) Under $1000 we start getting into Focal headphones, and these are without a doubt some of the slammiest open-back headphones out there - and I mean that in terms of their technical performance, not in terms of a boosted bass response. The rest of the midrange and treble timbre is incredibly natural and crisp, showcasing airy vocals and a sparkly coloration. The one area where the Arya falters a bit is in the sense of punch and slam, or what some have traditionally called macrodynamics. They also deliver audio more consistently.
